Bollore Logistics Joins The
Bolloré Logistics announces that it joined the “Shipper Coalition for a low carbon maritime transport” association. Made up of shippers, this association aims to encourage the industrial deployment of alternative propulsion technologies, in particular sail propulsion [1] .
By becoming a member of this association, Bolloré Logistics is supporting solutions using sail propulsion that drastically reduce CO 2 emissions . The company also shows its desire to expand its range of services after the launch in 2021 of SEAalternative [2] to promote a sustainable supply chain.
“ Bolloré Logistics is a major player in global maritime transport. As such, it is essential that we play an active role in the decarbonisation of maritime freight transport. Indeed, it currently represents 3% of total greenhouse gas emissions in 2020 worldwide and is likely to reach 10% in 2050. In February 2022, the association launched a call for tenders aimed at deploying majority sail-powered container ship solutions from 2024 on transatlantic routes between Europe and North America in order to halve emissions of CO 2 compared to conventional transport.
Committed to the environment for several years, Bolloré Logistics launched its “Powering Sustainable Logistics” CSR program in 2018 with the environmental objective of reducing its scope 3 CO 2 emissions by 30% by 2030. generated by transport operations, compared to 2019. The company wishes to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions linked to its activities and to support its customers towards the carbon neutrality of their supply chain.
